Project Overview

This was my very first website project. It all started when Helena reached out to me after their previous web designer turned off their website and disappeared. With my knowledge of building stores on Shopify, I offered to help. Everything was made from scratch—every little thing. I designed the graphics, took and photoshopped the product photos, organized their store, set up their store, managed the shipping, handled the accounts, and coded custom features they needed, such as B2B registry and hidden prices for non-customers. It was a hard challenge, and I worked tirelessly over these months. Although it’s not my best work in terms of design, I am very proud of accepting the challenge and making everything happen.

Project Details

Scope of Work: Website Design and Development & Ecommerce End-to-End Setup

Process: I used Shopify to set up the necessary ecommerce functionalities, including shipping and account management. The website development was done using Pagefly and custom coding with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Additionally, I utilized various apps to customize forms, variants, and other specific needs for the store.

Difficulties: This was by far the hardest project I've ever had because it was my first one. I encountered numerous problems while building the website and setting up everything, making the process a steep learning curve.

Enjoyable Aspects: One of the most enjoyable aspects of this project was the sheer breadth of skills I developed. From graphic design to coding, every step was a learning experience. Taking the product photos and transforming them into professional images was particularly satisfying. Additionally, creating custom features like the B2B registry and hidden prices was a great way to flex my coding muscles and solve real business challenges. Seeing the final product come together, despite the initial obstacles, was incredibly rewarding.

Final Thoughts

Although this project was incredibly challenging, it was also a pivotal learning experience for me. Rogério and Helena were patient and supportive throughout the process, which made a huge difference. The end result, while not perfect, was a functional and complete ecommerce website that served their needs. This project marked the beginning of my journey in web design and development, and for that, it holds a special place in my heart. I'm grateful for the opportunity and proud of the progress I made from this starting point.
